“The car is running on wood, using wood as fuel instead of petrol. With this car Conijn undertakes a journey through several countries in Eastern Europe, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ungary, Romania, Moldavia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania. There is no preset destination. The artist travels towards the unknown. The main plan is to make a film about the unexpected incited by the wood car. In order to keep the motor running, Conijn travels through woods, independent of petrol, leaving cultivated roads behind. Crossing little villages, people guide him to local saw-mills and offer him some food and spare wood. The car serves as an artless intermediary.”

“The car makes friends wherever it goes”
I saw at the Joan Miró Fundation only that part from Romania. I doubt that it made better friends somewhere else. It is wasn’t about the car and the wood, it was about the romanians, Joost:)
